Leaving the Family Dry Cleaning Business for a New Wrinkle — Compass Insurance Branch

Having worked in his family’s dry cleaning business, Sam Eid knows the importance of ironing out the wrinkles of running a business. As a Compass Insurance Branch owner with a team of three agents, Sam is well on his way to cleaning up on his goal of becoming the number one agency in Michigan.

After working in the mortgage industry and starting as an insurance agent in 2013, why did Sam choose a career as a Compass Insurance Branch owner? “It just felt right,” he says. “I particularly like that Compass represents multiple carriers, so I can offer clients options that best fit their needs. As a branch owner, I get a better work/life balance and provide a more stable future for myself and my family, with the opportunity to build a legacy I can leave to my family.”

Building A Team To Offer Even More First-Class Service

Sam thinks social media is the perfect channel to promote Compass and his branch. “Online SEO, Google Ads, Facebook, and all that,” he notes. “It’s a great way to reach out to people and build interest in the services we can provide. I also buy leads. If there’s a good way to reach out to people, I want to use it.”

He’s also looking to build his team to provide professional first-class service to his growing client base. “More agents means a wider client base,” Sam says. “My one frustration right now is finding enough clients that I can help.”

With a revenue goal of 2 million a year in new business and an 80% retention rate, and on track to achieve it, Sam still manages to have time to travel and spend time with his family. It’s a different family business than the one he grew up with, but it’s one he knows his family can prosper.
